So when I decided that I wanted to get into the Make-Up industry, I really struggled to figure out how, and I always get girls asking me how to get into it so I thought I would give you some tip's to help you put your foot in the door of a very hard industry!
So first I will tell you how I got into it.
I have always had an interest in all things beauty and have been fascinated by make-up from a very young age. I was doing a Business Administration apprenticeship at the age of 17 and soon realized that Business was not my forte! I worked in an office full of women and often found myself doing they're make-up on my lunch breaks and that's where it all began!
I then started watching more and more you tube make up tutorials and practicing on myself and my friends.
I also brought Jemma Kidd's make up masterclass book and just started teaching myself. I then enrolled in college and started doing a full time Beauty course as there were no make-up college courses near where I lived.
In the way of gaining experience within the make-up industry I was very lucky! My brother is quite a big professional photographer within the fashion industry and works on many amazing shoots with many celebrities. He has also filmed music videos with Missy Elliot, One Direction, Little Mix etc. I got the opportunity to start assisting the Make-Up Artists on his shoots, in London, unpaid, to gain a portfolio. "Its not what you know its who you know" is unfortunately a very true saying within this industry!
My other brother then started seeing a boy who was an amazing Make-Up artist and I spent the whole of last summer in London interning with him and got to work for magazines and on London Fashion Week and it was the best summer of my life!
So I now have a strong portfolio which enabled me to apply for uni which Im going to this year to study Hair and Make-up in Fashion and Media and I cant wait!
So that's brief over-view of how I got into it, now for some tips to help you!
1. Do a Beauty or Make-up course at college- This is always a great way to start your experience and gain a qualification!
2. Apply for jobs on Beauty Counters- This is another route on how you can become freelance. If you do not want to go down the University route and cannot afford to do unpaid shoots, get a job on a Make-Up counter and gain experience and build up your kit with the free make-up you get!
3. Try and assist other Make-Up artists as much as possible!!!- This is a big one for me. Although it will be unpaid, It will benefit you so much! This will give you the opportunity to have a real insight into working in the industry and allow you to build up your portfolio. Contact as many Make-Up Artists as possible and offer them your time! Twitter and Facebook are also great way's to find and connect with other Make-Up Artists.
4. Keep trying!- It takes a looooong time to really get stuck into this industry unless your parents have the money to pay you in, so determination and commitment is key! You will get knocked down so many times and you just have to keep going!
5. Make a beauty blog- Great way to meet others within the industry and Is a great thing to say you do!
Okay so there just a few tips that have really helped me! All I can say is be prepared to spend a lot of money travelling to assist and be prepared to do ALOT of unpaid work!! It is such a hard industry to get into but such an amazing one as well!
I would say the whole study something relevant at college such as Beauty then go onto study Make-Up at uni is definitely the easiest option but I understand that is not everyone's preference.
So good luck! Anymore questions, feel free to ask xxxx

How To Get Over A Break-Up
So, a slightly different post today. I have recently come out of a 4 year relationship. May not seem like a very long time but from the age's of 15-19 is a massive part of your life, when you grow as a person, and being in a relationship at this age means you grow with your partner. I'm going to write some tips and advice to make a break-up easier, or whats helped me anyway!
Soo any break-up in any circumstance or any amount of time Is still always hard. It is exhausting and emotionally draining and it makes you want to curl up in a ball away from the real world, but I promise its not like this forever! I believe that everyone needs to go through a bit of a hard break up to learn and grow from it and come out a stronger person!
The most important thing, I believe, to help you get over a relationship are the people around you. Keep your friends and family close at this point as they will be your main support system. It is very easy to isolate yourself and push everyone away so you can be alone and evaluate and over-think every single part of your relationship, wrong thing to do!!! You need to get yourself out there and keep yourself occupied in any which way, even by blogging about how you feel!
Next thing is to stay positive! After all, love and affection are just feelings which we can change! Do not think about the "what ifs" or what you could have done differently, whats happened has happened and I strongly believe everything happens for a reason. If you think you could have been better in the relationship, NO! At that point in time, that's how you were, and they should like you regardless, you shouldn't have to change yourself as a person to benefit others.
I have been keeping very positive and thinking about the opportunities in my life, as I am still so young!! I have decided to go to Spain for the summer and work for some life experience, which I wouldn't have necessarily done when I was in a relationship. I just think now, I am my own person and my life is going to go the way I choose, with no-bodies influence or actions reflecting it.
Stay independent !! So basically, stay away from the rebound! You are normally so used to the everyday relationship things such as texting and phone calls, that when you break up, you feel the need to find the affection from elsewhere to cover your own feelings. Some say rebounds are good, but I think rushing into another emotionally attached relationship is a complete no go!!! Its only going to end badly! Let yourself be yourself for once and discover who you are as a person! You shouldn't need someone else's emotions to feel comfortable.
So in conclusion break ups are shit!(excuse my language) But at the end of the day, everyone goes through them and comes out the other side! Time is most definitely a healer! For me, it has been a few weeks and I have probably experienced every emotion possible, from anger to resentment but I|m coming out fine!! Also as weird as it sounds, listen to songs such as:
. Christina Agularia- Can't Hold Us Down
. Destinys Child- Independent Woman
. Beyonce- Run the World
Listening to these kind of songs do actually help hahaha.
So Good Luck and remember your not alone, I'm doing okay :)

My week events!
So I've had some bad news about my Dad today, not a great start to end the week! I cant sleep and thought Id show you some of my events this week.
Started off the week with a little adventure with Floyd (my boyfriend). Had some time to kill before a house viewing so thought we'd visit Tower Bridge and the memorial for all lost at sea. Not often I get to do "touristy" things in London so it was nice to have some free time to wonder!
Floyd's failed attempt at a freeze frame.....
Made chicken noodle soup for the first time. It looks gross but It was actually so nice! Proud moment....
Dog-sitting with my cousin, which basically consisted of us taking full advantage of the 3D TV and Lovefilm. Watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, probably the most depressing film I've ever watched.
Then to finish off the week, went out with my friend Zoe. Got waaay too drunk off Blue Woo Woo cocktails but it was still a fun night, just a shame I had to come home to bad news!!
Start of the night....
End of the night lol
Tempted to start vlogging on days where I have shoots to go to or something interesting! Don't really have the confidence to walk down a street with a camera on my face talking to myself though, and I'm awful at editing! If anyone has any tips or good editing software, all advice would be welcome....
