So I don't like to start my blogging back on a bad note...... but this has to be said.
I have wanted to work for Benefit Cosmetics for years, I've applied SO many times online and never heard anything back. So when I saw on the website a recruitment day near where I live I thought great!
I have just come back from my "recruitment day experience" and I am absolutely gutted and disappointed on the way they went about things.
There was about 40 of us that turned up and the first process was a "one to one" interview.
I didn't even have to think of what to say in mine because I know most Benefit products back to front and was so confident that with my experience, I had enough to offer the company..... I was so wrong.
The woman that interviewed me asked me about 3 or 4 questions as she was in a rush to get through everybody, none of them questions being about what experience I have in the Beauty industry or what I know about Benefit products. The only things she asked me were 'When have you been in a challenging situation' (fair enough, statutory interview question) 'Where did Benefit start off in' and 'Whats my favorite Benefit product'. Now in the past at interviews its more about experience and what you have to offer a company, or they at least ask to see my CV!! But I managed to get through the first round.
Onto the second round.....
So in this round we had to work on the shop floor and traffic stop. Now I have to traffic stop in my day-to-day work so I thought this would be okay as I have experience.
About 20 of us that got through got put on the shop floor at the same time to traffic stop during a very quite time. I think there were more of us than actual customers.
I only managed to get 2 customers in half an hour so I then got a tap on the shoulder and told I didn't make it.
Now the other girls that made it through seemed nice enough, but had no experience whatsoever in Make-up. One girl said to me "I lied through my teeth in my interview, I have no experience", another said, " I've never even used Benefit, I just need a job!"
Now I understand times are hard and jobs are needed, but when you've wanted to work for Benefit for years, use they're products on a daily basis and are actually passionate about the brand, surely that counts more?!?!?!?
Well I can honestly say I wont be applying there anytime soon, I've lost faith in the company as a whole if they cant see someone who is willing to fully commit and actually wants to sell the products, not someone who just needs a job.
I have heard in the past about Benefits poor application process and today unfortunately has just proven it.
A blogger friend of mine had the same experience with a benefit interview! I think they need to rethink their ways! X
